Build and Plant then Wait and Water and Water and Water

While working at LSC I learned far more about gardening than I could ever imagine! Growing produce and cultivating the land was very important from a design perspective as it transformed an otherwise dysfunctional place into one where people and their ideas can meet, grow, and converge.

Several gardens were cultivated at LSC including a rooftop garden, two that were housed in the main alley, a tasting herb wall garden, and a micro-green wall garden at the entrance. Many days at Latham Street were spent watering vegetables, moving soil, repotting plants, and building containers.

And so throughout the summer, I watched as garden spaces at Latham Street began to take shape and overflow with fresh produce. Many community members joined our design team in efforts to build and maintain the rooftop garden, water circulation system, living wall, and hanging micro-green garden.
